It`s off to the south coast tomorrow (Sunday) lunchtime, to take on newly promoted Southampton. The game is live on Sky Sports and gives us a chance to show the armchair supporters just what we can do. Can we nick a second successive away win?
The fixture tomorrow will see us pitted against a former player of ours in Steven Davis. The midfielder joined the Saints from Glasgow Rangers and, in the media, has had this to say about his time at Fulham, especially his final few months,
"It was a difficult period for the club and we just missed relegation that season. A lot of new players came in and it took time to gel."
"I had not played a lot of football for the previous six months, so it was a difficult spell for me too. I do not know what sort of reception I will get from the Fulham fans and I am not bothered. I have nothing to prove to anyone."
"It is always nice to score against your old team, so I would love to get one."
Well I reckon those words will guarantee you get a hot reception mate!
Nigel Adkins has reservations about the fitness of Morgan Schneiderlin who has a knee injury and is rated as doubtful.
One player certain not to play is Jack Cork who is suffering from a knee injury.
A striker who has come through the divisions and continues to plunder goals. Our defence will need to keep a watchful eye on him.
Martin Jol takes his squad south without Grygera who picked up a thigh injury on his comeback trail. There are also doubts about Petric with the Croatian forward having picked up a calf injury but more worryingly it looks as if Dimitar Berbatov will miss the fixture.
Started his career with Southampton and will be eager to put one over his former club.
The record books don`t make for good reading. We`ve not beaten Southampton, on their own patch, for 17 games in a run that stretches back to 1935, some 77 years ago, when we won 2-1.
The last time our paths crossed we played out a six goal thriller which ended 3-3 with Leroy Rosenior scoring a late own goal to give Southampton a share of the points back in January 2005.
Mark Clattenburg is the man in charge of this fixture.
I just have this nagging feeling that we are going to get a result down at St Mary`s, to make it two away wins on the trot, 2-0 to Fulham for me.
After the international break we take on Aston Villa, at Craven Cottage.
