Fulham travel to Anfield on Wednesday for a difficult looking fixture again A Liverpool side managed by Kenny Dalglish. The original fixture was postponed due t the arctic blast that shook Britain in December. In that short period Sir Roy has been dismissed by Liverpool, after an indifferent start to the campaign, therefore we never did get the opportunity to exchange banter with him in the enemy dug-out did we!
Anyone else reckon we`d have been better off visiting Anfield with Roy Hodgson in charge?
I thought so!
On the eve of the visit their caretaker boss, Kenny Dalglish has already got half of Mersey side on a high awaiting the return of Steven Gerrard, with the legend remarking,
"Your captain being available after missing three games will be a fantastic lift for everybody. He is a special person - he`s not just a special footballer."
Our money is on Danny Murphy giving the Kop a shock on his return to an old stomping ground.
Just our luck isn`t it? Out for several games but the Liverpool talisman, Steven Gerrard is fit to return against us. However, his Scouse soul mate, Jamie Carragher, remains on the sidelines with an injured shoulder.
Slowly recapturing the form that made him such a devastating striker, don`t give him a chance Fulham because he`ll punish us.
Mark Hughes takes his squad to the north-west without the injured Senderos, Zamora and Briggs whilst Schwarzer is away on international duty still.
Rated as doubtful are Hughes and Etuhu,
We suspect that if Etuhu is ruled out then Sidwell will make his first start for Fulham. If Hughes doesn`t make it, we expect Baird to switch to centre back.
It could be a busy night for the young man who has stepped so capably into the shoes of Mark Schwarzer who is currently on international duty. Also, it`s worth pointing out we`ve yet to lose this season with Stockdale between the sticks.
Our record at Anfield is an awful one. We`ve not won there in 29 attempts although our last two visits have both ended in 0-0 draws.
Overall, the record boos show we`ve played each other 59, times with Liverpool having won 33 times to our 10 with 16 draws.
The man in charge this time around is Lee Probert.
I wouldn`t say no to a third 0-0 draw on the trot, at Anfield, would you?
We welcome Spurs this Sunday for an intriguing FA Cup 4th round tie.
