Spurs v Fulham Preview!

Spurs

White Hart Lane

After the difficult venture to Accrington for the 4th round FA Cup tie on Saturday, Fulham face another tough test this Tuesday evening when they travel to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham Hotspur. Having not won away from home, in the Premier League, since the opening day of the season, it looks a difficult task, on paper, to hope for three points, but, as we all know, strange things happen in this game of ours!

Vital Quotes:

Unlike ourselves, Spurs didn`t manage to dispose of lower league opposition, at the first attempt on Saturday prompting the Spurs manager, Harry Redknapp, to remark,

"We won't dwell on it (the FA Cup draw with Leeds)... I'm disappointed because we threw the game away when we had it in the bag but you have to pick yourself up and go again Tuesday."

Could Fulham feel the brunt of a Spurs onslaught or are Spurs in the middle of a bad run having also dropped home points against Hull City recently?

I guess we`ll find out Tuesday night!

Spurs Team News:

Spurs go into the match without the influential Aaron Lennon who has a groin injury. Also out are Jonathan Woodgate and Carlo Cudicini. Our spies also tell us that the following are rated doubtful - Assou-Ekotto, King and Huddlestone.

Player to watch: Jermain Defoe

A striker who is in form and a striker desperate to show Fabio Capello that he should be in the England starting eleven for South Africa 2010.

Fulham Team News:

Roy Hodgson takes his squad the short distance to N17 with John Pantsil and Clint Dempsey definitely not available. There are also doubts about the fitness of Paul Konchesky, Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson.

Simon Davies, who got the briefest of appearances up at Accrington, coming on as a substitute, will be looking for a possible start against a former team although we suspect he might well have to do with a place on the bench.

Possible starting eleven:-

Schwarzer, Kelly, Hughes, Hangeland, Baird, Duff, Murphy, Greening, Gera, Nevland, Johnson

Player to watch: Danny Murphy

Our club captain will be keen to put on an impressive show against a former club, is it too much to hope that a fine performance could possibly be capped with the winning goal?

Match Facts & Stats

Courtesy of a postponement at Craven Cottage, this is our fourth Premier League trip on the trot following on from visits to Chelsea, Stoke and Blackburn.

In head to head clashes with Spurs we don`t tend to fare that well having won only 11 out of 68 with our hosts tomorrow night having won 33.

If you`re looking for a dark cloud consider the fact that we`ve only won once at White Hart Lane in 62 years with that win coming back in August 2003.

Time for a change in fortune methinks!

Ref Watch:

Mike Dean is the man in charge

Match Prediction:

It`d take a brave man to forecast a win at White Hart Lane especially since we`ve not triumphed away from home since the opening day of the season. But it is a London derby and we can raise our game. We may have a few injuries and it might require a huge effort but you have to keep that belief going, otherwise you might just as well chuck in the towel. So here`s to a narrow win, 1-0 to Fulham anybody?

Next Fixtures:

Our Premier League campaign continues with a home fixture against Aston Villa, two tricky fixtures on the trot some would say.

As a spurs fan the teams who give us most trouble are well drilled units with 'flair' on the counter attack, which you guys have in spades. We really need a win but I can see a frustrating score draw to be on the cards...

I've been a Spurs supporter since the Blanchflower era and this is my first visit to your site. Don't ask me why, but if Tottenham never existed I'd probably follow Fulham. Maybe it's the white shirt. Anyway, this is not as easy a game for Spurs nor as hard a game for the Cottagers as one thinks. Harry's made some strange choices in team selection lately and they could have had a bearing in our recent results. At home against Hull for instance - if Bassong was fit, why was he on the bench and King, just back from injury, in the starting lineup? At home against Leeds in the Cup - where was the muscle in midfield when Palacios was on the bench and O'hara (back from Pompey) was not even in the squad? Tell you what - if you hear Jenas announced, there's a good chance you'll get a point; if you hear Bale, then you can be pretty sure we won't win. Anyway, hope it's a good game and not like the last couple of yawns I witnessed at the Lane.

I think this one has a Fulham win written all over it, unfortunately! This is a typical game that we will lose, get on a Fulham win. 6/1 to win. I've already layed out a score on it. Or the draw at nearly 4/1 is just as good.

We have so many injury issues that I just can't see where our goals would come from. I can see this being a 1-0 Spurs win. Hope I'm wrong.
