Bullard - The People`s Hero!

Amongst the euphoria of our first Premier League win n three months, a win coming in our thirteenth game since we last tasted victory, the sheer enthusiasm generated by Jimmy Bullard cannot have failed to have been missed.

At the end of the game, some eight minutes after he`d curled that wonderful free kick over the ball and past the despairing dive of Scott Carson, Jimmy hugged everyone, including the referee Chris Foy, as if he`d just encountered a whole tribe of his long lost relations.

However, anyone loyal to the cause would have recognised that it was a gesture that simply indicated that Jimmy Bullard was pleased to be back, that after sixteen months of fighting the demons, he`d done the business and was now ready to kick on.

After the game, he spoke about the recent bust up with Chris Baird, whereby it`s now widely acknowledged that he received a biff on the nose from his team mate, Chris Baird, and the long road back as well as the way forward, here`s what he had to say,

"It happens. I copped one across the bugle, no problem. It`s no big thing, there are no hard feelings and we`re friends now. We were sweet even before the game started."

"It was a massive win for us, I`m still buzzing because we`re fighting for our lives and even when the boys went a goal down we dug in and came back."

"Just to be out there playing again after what happened, kicking a ball is great."

"There`s a lot of games to go, a lot of points to play for and we can still get out of this."

Hopefully, inspired by Jimmy, the team can kick on starting with a win next weekend against Middlesbrough.

Yeah, that was one hell of a high Jimmy was on, sixteen months of frustration out of the way, our season started at Bolton, kicked on on Sunday and will continue with a minimum draw next Saturday. Keep the faith.

Crackin' result for you guys and great to see Jimmy hit the back of the net... Had you lost yesterday I think that would have been curtains but as it is you are in a position whereby you can claw your way up... Come on Fulham lkeep the southern presence in the premiershiop and sent some Notherners down..... Wigan will do .. along with Sunderland & Derby..

He seems like a very genuine guy, exactly what you need in the team. Still many games left, and there are teams around you that deserve the drop much more. Good luck for the rest of the season

We aren't safe in any way but he can help us survive and will cheer up the players if nothing else
