Hodgson on Joining Fulham!

At sixty years of age, the appointment of Roy Hodgson as our new manager does seem a strange decision.

Roy, who has had a varied career around Europe, has never really set the managerial world alight with his achievements and at sixty is hardly likely to be around for a decade or so.

However, in the post appointment press conference, he made all the right noises but don`t they always?

Here`s what Hodgson had to say,

"After long talks with the chairman and the board, I am convinced we can take Fulham to a new level."

"I am determined we will overcome the current position which I understand will be a challenge but one that I will relish."

"I`m very much looking forward to training with the team on Sunday and will off course be at St Andrew`s to watch the clash against Birmingham."

Maybe, at St Andrews, you might just see the enormity of the task you`ve taken on Roy!

You don't need a manager that will stick around for a decade, you need someone who is experienced and able to turn a low-profile team (no offence meant, but it's true) into a solid unit as quickly as possible and help it escape relegation. Hodgson seems the right man for the job.

we'll reserve judgement on that mate! Cookie was our man, he kept us going on a shoestring!
