'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sanchez - Backwards and Forwards!

It`s almost the middle of the week, a week that, in the build up to the traditional festivities, could prove to be a crucial one.

After the setback of last Saturday, a vital fixture looms, a fixture we dare not lose.

Newcastle was disappointing, to say the least and that last minute penalty must have felt like a dagger through the heart for Lawrie Sanchez.

Here`s what he had to say,

"With five minutes to go I was a little disappointed that we were only going to get a point and suffice to say I am a little more disappointed that we were cruelly beaten."

"But that has been the story of our season I am afraid."

Looking ahead to Wigan, you get the impression that the pressure is building and that Lawrie recognises that. Wigan are coming off a fine 5-3 win over a very good Blackburn team but it hasn`t stopped Lawrie from coming up with the one obvious conclusion needed for our season to be resurrected before it plunges into an abyss,

"We have to win football matches - it`s as simple as that."

"We have Wigan next week and we`ve got to prove that we are good enough, that`s the facts of life."

Some would suggest two wins in seventeen games would bare testament to the fact that is precisely what we are struggling to do!
