'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Healy - Fading Away!

David Healy returned to Old Trafford last night, a place where he started his career. However, it`s a career that is currently baffling many.

Healy, who has set international football alight and notched up a new scoring record for a European Championship qualifying campaign, has struggled to make a serious impact in the Premier League.

After signing Healy in the summer for a great deal of cash, it`s fair to say that the supporters probably expected more of the Irishman in a Fulham shirt.

However, behind the scenes it would appear, if our sources are correct, that certain issues are being addressed.

In his pre-match interview, Lawrie Sanchez gave an insight into how he feels he can get the best out of Healy remarking,

"He`s a great impact substitute but long term and short term we want to get him to be a ninety minute player."

"The trouble is when we start him, we have to take him off because of the physical aspect of the game, he tires, but when he comes on he adds something to us."

"His goals are good. He should have had two more and he`s made two or three so he`s done very well. I think his start has been good. We can make him stronger, which we are doing with weights, and we can improve his endurance."

"The endurance is the big one because after an hour he tends to fade."

Would it be churlish to suggest that at the age of twenty-eight David Healy should be in his physical prime?

Would it be wrong to expect more from someone who struts his stuff on the international stage with such impact?

Now can you see why Leeds didn't rate him? He's just not good enough!

No, it` not wrong to expect more from Healy, but the question is "why does he do it for N.I. and not for us", we know he is missing Mc.Bride, but surely an international player should be performing better in the league, is it the fact he probably gets more space and time in internationals, remember K Dalgleish, absolutely brilliant for Liverpool but hardly turned it on for his country, perhaps it is a mental thing, i just can`t figure it out.

I don't see why you are all having a go at him he has a better goal per pound rating than Kamara and he usually comes on when the rest of the team have given up. And also i cant see why sanchez does what he does with our subs he should play Dempsy And Healy up front With Bouazza on the left wing cause thats where he is best and bring kamara on for Healy Make it 4-5-1 if he needs to change things it works for me on Pro Evo 08
