A Besiktas Nightmare?

With only hours to go to our kick off at Anfield against Liverpool, Lawrie Sanchez, as the team travelled north, has left us with some words to mull over.

Hopefully, they`ll simply drop into the abyss of meaningless quotes rather than into the file that contains those quotes that will always come back to haunt you.

Lawrie, reflecting on the tough task ahead of his side, had this to say,

"We will get stuffed if you play like Turkeys."

"Everyone has seen how good the top sides can be. On their day they can score eight, seven or six."

"But it will be a good test of how far we have come. These are great games, the ones you get in football to manage and play in. You want to test yourself - but they are tough. We know the quality they have."

"We just have to go up there and make sure we don`t perform as badly as Besiktas did the other night."

Suddenly, I`m having second thoughts about it being a good day, is anyone else?

Do I detect a whiff of nerves from our little brothers?

Not the Besiktas nightmare, but a loss non the less. Sorry to ruin your good day Putney ;-)

Liverpool named an unchanged side which must have surprised Sanchez. I am sure he would of expected a few changes from the side that only just managed to win 8-0!!!
