Fulham - Academy Producing!

Despite spending in excess of £25 million in the summer transfer market, recent weeks have shown that Fulham do have a youth policy.

Indeed, on Saturday against Reading, Fulham were able to field two youngsters, Elliot Omozusi and Nathan Ashton, proof that youth can thrive amongst the big spending clubs of the Premier League.

Whilst we accept that Nathan didn`t exactly come through the ranks but that he was signed from Charlton Athletic, he was still something of a rough diamond.

Therefore, we here at Vital Fulham would like to offer Fulham our congratulations and thanks for investing in youth and hope that it starts to set a trend with regards to producing home grown talent or as Lawrie Sanchez bluntly put it,

"We`ve spent millions on our Academy and you`ve got to bring players through."

In finishing we`d like to pose a question.

How many players does the academy need to produce a year for, in football terms, it can be considered to be a success?

that would be a success in my opinion. So often promising youngsters fall by the wayside, suffering under the weight of expectations!

in my days kids packed the streets playing football, now you never see any - too many PC games keeping them occupied!
