I`m seriously hoping the tabloids have got it wrong big-time this morning!
Let me explain! There is an article in one of them that is suggesting that Fulham are preparing to make a swoop for the West Ham United striker, Bobby Zamora, in the January transfer window. More worryingly, it also suggests that we`re looking to make an offer in the region of £4 million to secure his services.
Why?
Zamora is currently surplus to requirements at West Ham and is struggling to make the first team. Whilst I`m willing to accept that he has been a prolific scorer in the lower leagues, I`m yet to be convinced that he can cut it in the Premier League.
Sure he`s had the odd good spell where he`s shown potential but he`s never been able to score regularly enough to firmly establish himself as an automatic choice, wherever he`s played in the Premier League.
I may be wrong but if Lawrie Sanchez is given more cash to splash in January, I`d suggest he spends if far more wisely than this tabloid is suggesting.
As reported this week, Kyle Lafferty could be tempted from Burnley if we up the proposed fee. Although he hasn`t played in the Premier League yet, I can`t help thinking he`d be a better option.
Zamora for Fulham, not for me!
Any thoughts?
