Despite the disappointment over the result, everyone knows we need to beat Derby County if we are to stay up; there was one storming positive to take from the game on Saturday!
The form of Anti Niemi!
The Finnish goalkeeper has been under pressure in recent weeks after a string of below par performances, in fact his displays caused so much concern that the experienced Kasey Keller was brought in to offer extra competition for the green jersey.
Thankfully, it appears to have worked and on Saturday, Niemi had the sort of game keepers dream about, here`s what he had to say,
"I haven`t really performed before this."
"It`s good to get a clean sheet but hopefully I can kick start my season now."
Niemi`s world class performance also brought praise form the opposition manager, Billy Davies, who, after seeing his side deprived of their first away victory in the Premier League remarked,
"The performance of Anti Niemi prevented us from getting three points. With respect to Kasey Keller, bringing Niemi back has been a blessing for Fulham because he was inspired."
In a weekend that saw Finland once again become big-time news with Kimi Raikkonen taking the Formula 1 world title, it`s great to see another Finn, Anti Niemi, once again on top of his game.
