With rumours circulating that our ex-manager could be about to face the axe at Real Sociedad, could another job opportunity be about to present itself?
Today, a leading tabloid carries an article containing several comments made by the Blackburn midfielder, Robbie Savage.
They surround the current predicament Welsh football finds itself in hard on the heels of a 2-0 defeat against Germany, at the weekend, with only 25,000 supporters turning up.
Now it`s no secret that Savage has never seen eye-to-eye with the current Welsh manager, John Toshack. Indeed, the two have often been at each others throats and Savage has effectively blamed Toshack for the termination of his own international career.
However, Savage has effectively called for Toshack to stand down and give someone else the chance to resurrect Welsh football and spearhead the campaign to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
The person he has chosen is, perhaps surprisingly, Chris Coleman, with Savage remarking,
"I think the time has come to make a change at the top and Chris Coleman has to be a candidate."
"He did well at Fulham and is a young man with ideas. We need that because we can`t go on as we are.".
Quite how Chris views matters isn`t clear. We here at Vital Fulham suggest that perhaps he`d probably like to make a go of the Real Sociedad job before taking on another.
