After the doom and gloom of the last few weeks, things are suddenly starting to pick up. There is a fresh wave of optimism in the air.
The signing of Hughes and those who will subsequently follow, has refreshed this particular palette when it comes to next season.
Suddenly, after weeks of anxiety, there does appear to be light at the end of the tunnel and it seems I`m not the only one thinking in that manner.
Brain McBride, at thirty-five years of age the elder statesman of our side, also has similar feelings. Indeed, there were many who suspected that the striker, who netted twelve goals last season to help ensure our survival in top flight football, can`t wait to get started.
Speaking in the media recently, McBride had this to say,
'We are looking for a big improvement next season. We have a lot of work to do in pre-season and we will be aiming to get some wins early on in the season to get some momentum.'
'Lawrie has done a good job. He explained what he wanted when he came in and I'm looking forward to pre-season.'
'We need to make sure we are fully focused for 90 minutes in every game next season, we had too many games last season where we let it drop in parts."
Personally, I think the last paragraph sums up what is required perfectly. No more stupid lapses and perhaps, just perhaps, we might make last season disappear from the memory.
I can`t wait to see!
