Fulham to buy from Villa again?

The Guardian has reported that Aston Villa, Northern Irish midfielder, Steven Davis will sign for Fulham in a four million pound deal.

This would be Fulham`s second purchase from Villa this summer and would most certainly cause a split with Villa fans some want him to stay and prove himself others want the money.

If Fulham do manage to snap up Davis, it would prove to be nothing short of a coup for the small London club as just some eighteen months ago, Davis was being lined up by Manchester United as a replacement for Roy Keane.

Also with Fulham matching, Birmingham`s bid for Olivier Kapo, an attacking midfielder, could this spell the end for Fulham captain Michael Brown or even Senegalese giant Papa Bouba Diop.

Sheffield Wednesday have also rejected a bid from Fulham for Chris Brunt.

Davis is a quality player and will get better and better in seasons to come, £4m is a snip compared to what some players are priced at. I would really like him to stay, last season he was awesome and this season he hasn't forced his way into the squad because of O'Niells persistance to play Petrov, which means the lad has had a taste and wants to play first team football. If Fullham buy him you certainly won't be dissapointed, and probably sell him to Man Utd for £15m in two years time !!

In Hughes Fulham have a solid, dependable and versatile defender. Good squad player. If they get Davis they have a potential top player. very skillful and energetic but perhaps a little lightweight. Talk in the Midlands suggests an initial fee of £4m which could rise substantially with add-ons. He would be a great signing for Fulham and Villa fans would be very sorry to see him go, UNLESS his replacement is Wesley Schneider from Ajax, which has been rumoured. Then we would be replacing a potentially top player with an actual one. Good luck to Fulham, you are looking to make good signings.

cannot believe we are selling him,utter despair at the thought of it 2 be honest.agree in 2 or 3 years time fulham will maybe get 15million+ 4 him.1st big mistake from martin this definately is!

Belfast Villain, O'Niell has said that he won't stand in anyones way if they want to leave, Davis wants first team football week in week out, so he will have to go elsewhere to find it. I think its one we will have to take on the chin, I just hope any replacement(s) are better.

O'Neill obviously doesn't think that much of him or he surely wouldn't let him go, but agreed Petrov had better be damn good this season as we are losing a good player for the sake of playing him. Are Fulham the new Middlesborough, nicking all our players? Do you want the Djemba twins too?

Would be happy to see Davis at the club, although I think this will be the end of Brown and/or Diop's Fulham career if we do sign him. Our central midfield is relatively strong compared to other positions and to use a large chunk of the transfer budget on a central midfielder, when other areas need stengthening, only points out that we'll sell to bring in more money.
