'If It's Football, It's Vital'

£30 million isn`t enough?

No not my words but apparently the words of our owner, Al Fayed.

With the new television deal set to kick in, Mr Al Fayed has publicly spoken out about the huge sums of money being banded about.

It would seem; that, next season, the team that comes bottom of the Premiership will receive in the region of £30 million prize money. However, we`re not quite sure how finishing bottom can be classified as prize money (answers on a postcard please).

Apparently that figure surpasses the sum Manchester united earned for winning the Premiership this season. Clearly, football is big business.

Quite how much Al Fayed would like to see put up as prize money we`d like to know.

Seeing as we narrowly missed relegation, perhaps it`s worth remembering that Sunderland, who won the Championship last season, will have pulled in prize money, from the Football League, that isn`t even equivalent to 5% of the money the bottom team will get next season.

With 'parachute` payments also set to increase, it`s quite clear that the Premiership, unless you get a duff manager prepared to waste millions, is fast becoming the elite football feared it would when it was formed.

What chance another Wimbledon coming through the ranks - zilch we`d say!

Not bad return for failure! Some of us are in the wrong profession!

Well its a target you can set if your season does not go very well lol. Its an outrageous amount of cash, and certainly cannot be deemed as a prize.
