Legalised Extortion?

With Lawrie Sanchez having, supposedly, been given a war-chest comprising of £10 million to strengthen our squad, we`ve already this week discussed the implications of paying over the odds for any potential signings.

It would now appear to be common practise for clubs to want to charge over the odds for players, those clubs who are foolish to announce they have cash to spend, want. Yesterday, we speculated about Steven Davis probably costing £5 million, or half of Lawries war-chest.

Sadly, this scenario can also be a two pronged thing. Today, it`s being reported, in the tabloids, that Middlesbrough are interested in signing our forward, Collins John.

Collins, as you are probably aware, had a fall from grace under our previous manager, Chris Coleman, and didn`t feature in his plans. It was a situation that Sanchez was unable to reverse and we believe that, at the time of writing, Fulham are prepared to let Collins go.

Laughingly, as soon as Middlesbrough reportedly express an interest, the price quoted in the tabloids for acquiring this youngster, is a staggering £3.5 million.

If the price quoted is realistic then have we not just created a rod for our own back?

I can't believe that the club are even considering letting Collins go, probably the best prospect we have. Why he didn't feature on a regular basis last season is beyond me, although I'm sure somebody at the club does know for sure and we can only speculate.

I've always rated him, scored a nice goal at Stamford Bridge a few years ago.

not as nice as the two that deprived you of two points this season at your place!
Putney
