Sanchez given money to spend!

The announcement from our owner, Al Fayed, that Lawrie Sanchez will be given some funds to improve the team is welcome news.

Unfortunately, listening to our owners brief statement namely,

"I want the new manager to invest on the pitch and build a team that can take us to further heights."

has us all a little worried. With a figure of £10 million being quoted, as the funds being made available, it doesn`t take a genius to work out that the further heights our owner is talking about doesn`t equate to a meteoric rise up the Premiership table.

Indeed, we can`t help but offer a wry smile when you think about the sales, of players, that blighted the last eighteen months of Chris Coleman`s tenure as manager.

With David Healy, supposedly the first of many signings on the way to Craven Cottage, having failed to make a significant impact at Elland Road, I can`t help suspecting what Al Fayed dreams about and what we all aspire to, are some distance apart.

Al Fayed is having a laugh, not even going to touch on the Cookie situation with funds. £10m to build a side when we've just got £40m (?) from TV rights this year, £3m from LG, god knows how much from Nike but obviously enough to pay back Airness for the remaining 2 years on their deal and a nice new kit to bring in the readies!
