Am I a True Fulham Supporter?
Sitting watching the coverage of the Fulham v Manchester United game, coverage that my wife had recorded for me, I was given food for thought.
One of the television experts, Ray Wilkins, the same Ray Wilkins who spent time at Craven Cottage on the coaching staff, told a few tales of life behind the scenes.
Recalling when he was on the coaching staff, Ray suggested that the fan base around the club is unique when compared to other clubs. He suggested that Fulham supporters are mainly accountants and solicitors.
This led to the unusual scenario of complaints about the team being faxed into the office rather than posted. Indeed, Ray often spent time discussing the details of these complaints with the senders.
Whilst wishing to congratulate Ray on his tactic, I can`t help thinking I`ve missed the boat in life. After all, I`m not a solicitor or an accountant so am I, according to Ray, really a Fulham supporter?
