Brentford 3 Fulham 1

Brentford 3 Fulham 1

The short walk home from Griffin Park to my humble abode didn`t take long.

It was one of those walks where your head is a little fuzzy trying to make sense of how a game can change so dramatically.

At Griffin Park, Fulham had looked the far more likely side to win but the second-half saw our close neighbours look far better than ourselves.

Fulham started the game well and their recent two wins on the bounce looked set to become three when, in the 25th minute Neeskens Kebano was on hand to finish from close-range, at the far post, when a cross from Ryan Fredericks came through to him.

Sadly, for Fulham, Brentford were to equalise in the 33rd minute when a shot from Sergi Canos took a deflection and beat David Button in the Fulham goal.

After the break, Brentford took control of the game with Ollie Watkins unlucky not to put his side ahead when his shot struck the post. But respite was brief for Fulham with Romaine Sawyers, on as a substitute, putting the home side ahead in the 49th minute.

Matters were made worse for Fulham when Denis Odoi, having already been the recipient of a yellow card, brought down Watkins and was shown another yellow and a subsequent red card.

Down to ten-men, Fulham battled hard but were to concede a third goal in the 85th minute when Watkins was on hand to send the home supporters home happy tapping in at the far-post.

The defeat drops Fulham down to 15th in the Championship table and promotion looks as if it is fast becoming a distant dream.

Time for a beer methinks!
