Sheffield United 4 Fulham 5

A sensational game at Bramall Lane saw Fulham emerge victorious in a nine-goal thriller.

Two players, one from either side, scored hat-tricks in a game that will live long in the memory.

The scoring got underway when Leon Clarke opened the scoring for our hosts when he scored from close-range after Button had saved a shot but couldn`t hang on to the ball.

Fulham had to wait until the twenty-eighth minute to draw level when Sheyi Ojo kept his cool to finish after a poor back-pass from Cameron Carter Vickers had left the Sheffield United goalkeeper exposed.

Two minutes late, Fulham edged ahead in the game for the first time when Ryan Sessegnon scored an absolute cracker with a shot from 25-yards out.

Three minutes later it was all-square again, at 2-2, when a shot from Clarke, from an acute angle, squeezed through the legs of Button.

Before half-time Fulham edged ahead when Sessegnon scored his second goal of the game, volleying in at the far post in a completely unmarked position.

Half-Time Sheffield United 2 Fulham 4

The second half remained relatively clam until the sixty-ninth minute when the goals started to flow again, with a deflected shot, from just inside the box, from Ojo making it 4-2 to Fulham.

Nine minutes later the small band of travelling supporters were celebrating a fifth Fulham goal when Sessegnon completed his hat-trick with a left-footed shot into the far corner.

But, with Fulham thinking the game was won, Sheffield United produced a grand-stage finish.

In the eighty-fifth minute a shot from Carruthers took a deflection and wrong-footed Button and four minutes later it was 4-5 when Clarke completed his hat-trick with a header from close-range.

One crazy, but highly enjoyable, night!
