Cairney Signs New Fulham Contract

Cairney Signs New Fulham Contract

As a Fulham supporter, one of my big fears this summer transfer window was that Fulham Football Club would lose the services of Tom Cairney.

We`ve lived for what seems like an age with the speculation that Cairney was wanted by a Premier League club, thought to be Newcastle United.

It seemed that it could be only a matter of time before Newcastle offered a fee that Fulham, despite their ambitions, would find hard to turn down.

But, today, we can all breathe a little easier.

It has been officially announced that Cairney has put pen-to-paper on a new contract at Craven Cottage, a contract that ties him to Fulham Football Club until 2021.

The midfielder is a prominent member of our squad, a fact proven by the statistic that shows he was the only player, in the Championship, to reach double figures in goals and assists in 2016 / 2017.

Another statistic, courtesy of Opta Joe, shows that Cairney also made more successful passes in the Championship than any other player, a staggering 3354 whilst the Scottish international also created more chances than any player in the Championship as well, a wonderful 118.

A massive well done to all those involved in getting this deal done and dusted.
