The Danger of Play-Off Failure
After the 1-1 draw, at Craven Cottage, Fulham make the short trip down the M4 to take on Reading in the second-leg of the play-off semi-final this evening.
It is a tie that Fulham supporters are praying the side wins, not only to give them a day out at Wembley but also to continue our dreams of returning to the Premier League.
Unfortunately, the price of failure could be high, aside from being consigned to another season in the Championship, we could see our club plundered, by other clubs, with our star players moving on.
Already we`re aware of Newcastle`s interest in Tom Cairney and with Rafa Benitez having been given a £100 million transfer chest, we wouldn`t be too surprised if Newcastle tried to obtain the services of Cairney.
Ahead of the game, Ryan Fredericks has spoken to the media about the pressure on the club to get promotion, remarking,
"It is important we go up, because then we have a better chance of keeping our best players.
"Tom is the best passer of a football in the league by a long way. He would shine in the Premier League."
He would and a failure to achieve our dream could see Tom move on.
But, returning to the game tonight, against Reading, Ryan believes the 1-1 draw, at Craven Cottage, could benefit Fulham, further remarking,
"It could work in our favour, going there with the draw - things might open up a bit more."
With away goals playing no part in the outcome of the two-legs, perhaps Reading might be tempted to push forward enabling our counter-attacking style to be of benefit.
We can but wait and see.
