Fulham Duo Named in Scotland Squad

We`re on the verge of yet another international break.

After the round of weekend games, everything will come to a grinding halt as far as the Championship is concerned, whilst a round of World Cup qualifiers and friendly fixtures takes place.

Today the Scotland manager named his squad for the forthcoming international fixtures against Canada (friendly) and Slovenia (World Cup), with the games taking place on the 22nd and 26th March respectively.

In the 30-man squad are two Fulham players, Chris Martin and, for the first time Tom Cairney.

Talking about the inclusion of Cairney, Gordon Strachan has remarked to the media,

'Tom Cairney was the best man on the pitch at St James' Park but that was no surprise, he has been the best man on the pitch on many occasions"

The full provisional squad named by Strachan is:

Goalkeepers: Gordon (Celtic), Marshall (Hull), McGregor (Cardiff, on loan from Hull)

Defenders: Berra (Ipswich), Mulgrew (Blackburn) Hanley (Newcastle), R Martin (Norwich), Robertson (Hull), Tierney (Celtic), Wallace (Rangers)

Midfielders: Anya (Derby), Bannan (Sheffield Wednesday), Brown (Celtic), Armstrong (Celtic), Burke (Leipzig), D Fletcher (West Brom), Forrest (Celtic), Cairney (Fulham), Fraser (Bournemouth), McArthur (Crystal Palace), McGinn (Hibernian), Morrison (West Brom), Phillips (West Brom) Ritchie (Newcastle), Snodgrass (West Ham)

Forwards: S Fletcher (Sheffield Wednesday), Griffiths (Celtic), Naismith (Norwich), C Martin (Fulham, on loan from Derby) Jordan Rhodes (Sheffield Wednesday, on loan from Middlesbrough)

Our congratulations go to Tom on his first international call-up and also to Chris.
