Goal Line Technology Introduction
In the Premier League there have been occasions, this season, whereby Goal-Line technology has assisted the referee greatly as to whether the ball has crossed the line or not and whether a goal should be awarded or not.
The technology came about after that infamous incident in the World Cup tie between England and Germany whereby an exquisite effort from Frank Lampard beat Manuel Neuer in the German goal all-ends-up, bounced a good foot behind the line but bounced out only for play-on to be the decision.
It was a moment that even FIFA decided action should be taken, hence the introduction of goal-line technology in the Premier League.
However, it appears that, come next season, the Championship will also be privy to such technology with the clubs, agreeing in principle, to its introduction.
Discussing its introduction the EFL Chief Executive, Shaun Harvey, has remarked to the media,
"This decision is about providing our match officials with as much support as possible to ensure they are best placed to make the right calls in even the most difficult situations."
To me it definitely signals a move in the right direction and a piece of technology that should be embraced, but do you agree?
