Fulham: Crossley to Wednesday.

Fulham: Crossley to Wednesday.

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Crossley has joined Sheffield Wednesday on-loan until January and is expected to make his debut for the Owls in Saturday's trip to Ipswich Town.

The former Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough stopper told the Fulham official site he's excited about getting the chance to play regularly again.

'I have worked hard to regain my fitness after a frustrating period at the start of the season. Having spoken to Chris Coleman I know that he wants me to get some games under my belt, so this is the best way for me to achieve that and I`m grateful to Sheffield Wednesday and Brian Laws for this opportunity.' he said.

'I am looking forward to playing some football at a ground I know well, and then just seeing what happens in January.'

New Wednesday boss Brian Laws has played alongside Crossley at Nottingham Forest and was delighted to capture the services of the stopper.

He told the official Owls site: 'I'm delighted Fulham have allowed him out. I know Mark well, he's experienced and is a good organiser. He brings a work ethic and a calming influence to the team and is also a good passer of the ball.'

The Barnsley-born Fulham stopper is currently down the pecking order at Craven Cottage behind Anti Niemi and is keen to return to action following an injury which restricted his first team opportunities this season.

This is good news for Crossley but lets hope that Chris Coleman has put a draw back clause in the loan agreement so that if we need him we can get him back!

I would think that Coleman would be canny enough to put a clause in the contract to be able to get him back if necessary!

He needs some regular football, and he will definatly get it at Sheffield Wednesday. It would give him some confidence and boost his morale.
