Fulham Interest in Parker

Fulham Interest in Parker

I`m probably not alone in suggesting that our midfield wasn`t out strongest area last season.

Therefore, I`m also probably not alone when I admit to being pleased that we`re being linked with a move for the Tottenham player Scott Parker,

It seems that Andre Villas-Boas is intent on bolstering his own midfield this summer and that the former England international might be surplus to requirements.

However, there is further West London interest in the player with Harry Redknapp, over at Queens Park Rangers, also reputedly interested.

As for a price, it appears it could be a very modest £4 million!

Parker is still a very good player and if played to his strengths of a defensive midfielder whose main role is to get and give the ball, he is as good as anyone. at Spurs, he has probably fallen behind Sandro (when fit) and with the potential purchase of Paulinho, you feel that Parker will be sold. For AVB, I feel he is seen as a little one dimensional, as he lacks the creative edge, but if you are looking for leadership and a player to do a specific role, he would be excellent. My only question for fulham is whether he and sidwell would be too "industrial" and perhaps you would be better looking at Tom Huddlestone, whilst both for 10m or slightly less would be outstanding business for you

As oxfordspur mentions, Parker is a very similar player to Sidwell, who is younger and not injury prone. With the acquisition of Boateng, I think we're covered in that area. Now Huddlestone, that's different. Creative and only 26. A young midfielder who is creative. We've needed that for years!

Whilst I think Parker is a good player I'd rather we went for Huddlestone we need to bring the age of the first team down and at 26 he could become a very important part of the jigsaw, we still haven’t replaced Dembele or Murphy properly and we paid the price for that last season
