Fulham 1 Wycombe 2...oops!

Is this good enough?

Wycombe Wanderers caused a massive Carling Cup 2nd round upset last night as they beat Fulham 1-2 at Craven Cottage.

Wycombe Wanderers went ahead after eight minutes when Jermaine Easter scored from a rebound after Fulham Keeper Jan Lastuvka parried away Matt Bloomfields shot.

The visiters made it 0-2 when Carlos Bocanegra felled Easter in the penalty area and Tommy Mooney scored from the spot.

Heidur Helguson who had already gone close twice in the first half scored with his head 2 minutes into the second half.

'It was a poor display from us in the first 45 minutes,' Coleman said.

'At half time some of the lads looked like they were on the night shift when they really wanted to be on the afternoon shift on Saturday.

'We need to get that first half out of our system. It was different in the second half and we scored early doors.

'After that they got a lot of men behind the ball and made it difficult for us.'

Fulham's injury woes increased when Bocanegra limped off in the second half with Coleman revealing the USA defender had been earmarked for the midfield in Saturday's Barclays Premiership clash with Chelsea.

'Unfortunately Carlos Bocanegra came off with a sore groin. I didn't want to play him tonight because of a lack of bodies for Saturday but we had no option,' he said.

'Now we don't know if he's going to be available for Saturday. He played in midfield for us against Tottenham and did a wonderful job.

'He was tired tonight and we were debating whether or not to play him. But we had to put some experience on the pitch. We hope and pray it's not too serious.

'If he's not fit for Saturday then we don't have many people to choose for in midfield.'

With all of Fulham's injuries it was always going to be a hard game, however Fulham are a premiership team that has just given premiership 'Giants' Newcastle and Tottenham hard games, with all due respect to Wycombe we should still have won this game, one word....Woeful.

Just not good enough, I know we have the problems with injuries but this was a 2nd division team that beat us....perhaps Cloeman should have played the ladies team....lol.

Oops, see what happens when you play with only 4 defenders but having 2 put past you by Wycombe is something Robbie Keane, Defoe and Mido couldn't do so makes me wonder as well! Spurs lost to Grimsby last year in the same round so I know how you feel.

Yes Teddy I know what you mean , gutted!!

What a load of ********* this game was, we won't get many chances for a gateway into Europe but this was one of the easier options.....gone for another season.

Good to see Tommy Mooney still among the goals! Will he ever retire?
