Fulham debut for Zakuani.

Gabriel Zakuani is set to make his Fulham debut in the Carling Cup clash against Wycombe as Chris Coleman vows to field a strong side.

The young defender joined the Cottagers in a £1.5million deal from League One side Leyton Orient during the summer, but has so far failed to secure a start in the side. However with Coleman trying to contend with a whole host of injury problems, he is almost certain to feature against their League Two opponents in Wednesday's second round encounter.

Fellow summer arrival, 22-year-old Sweden Under-21 international striker Bjorn Runstrom, is also due to continue in the side after making his debut against Tottenham in Fulhams draw on Sunday. Defensive duo Carlos Bocanegra and Moritz Volz, who were pushed upfield at White Hart Lane, should continue in their improvised roles.

Despite being blighted by injuries to key midfielders Luis Boa Morte, Papa Bouba Diop, Jimmy Bullard, Ahmad Elrich, Simon Elliott and Mark Pembridge, Coleman is still confident of victory against the Chairboys.

He said: "I've said all long that I will not pick a weakened team for the Carling Cup.

"But while I'm not going to select the kids, any player who is still struggling from the Tottenham game won't be figuring.

"No disrespect to Wycombe, but any team we field should be strong enough to win, although they will make it hard for us. I want to do well in both cups."

I do not know much about Zakuani except that he was well thought of at Leyton Orient. However this could be his chance and hopefully he will grasp it by the hawns.
