Karagounis - Set For New Deal!

Brought to Craven Cottage on a short term deal, it was expected that Giorgos Karagounis would be on his way at the end of the season.

But apparently not!

Although the Greek international has hit the ripe old age of 35, his performances have been impressive enough for Martin Jol to consider giving the veteran another contract with Jol explaining after the 1-0 win over Stoke City at the weekend,

"Giorgos loves to play here and if we feel the moment is right we will sit down with him and offer him a new contract."

"He`s not the youngest, he`s nearly 36. But every time we get other players playing you miss him."

"Last week I didn`t play him because I was annoyed he was playing for the Greece national team so I played Emmanuel Frimpong."

"But in this game I knew we needed someone like him who can make us play and can make us tick in midfield."

It looks like Karagounis could be getting a one year deal then, good news all-round we`d say!

Despite his age he has put in some excellent performances this season so if he can stay fit I think it’s a good move by Jol

he would deserve it based on performance... but the real problem is fulham cannot find a player who can have the same influence, but is younger than 30...

We can find them our problem is affording them and attracting them if they are under 30
