'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulhams player quotes......

As Chris Coleman`s side resumed training this week ahead of Sunday`s London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, Luis Boa Morte, Liam Rosenior and Collins John reflected on Saturday`s victory over Newcastle, and Fulham`s start to the 2006/07 Premiership season.

Luis Boa Morte:

"It wasn`t a brilliant performance on Saturday but we got the result. Of course we enjoy putting on a good performance but I`m sure the Fulham supporters who travelled up to Newcastle were happy. BoaNewcastle2

"All of us were delighted with the result but we really missed Jimmy on the pitch after he went off. Jimmy was taking care of the game for us and after he went off they had more possession but we got the three points. It was a mixed atmosphere after the game because we were happy with the victory but sad for Jimmy.

"So far we`ve had a good start to the season and hopefully we can stay in the top ten - it`s a long season but we`re constantly looking forward.

"We know it`s going to be a tough game against Tottenham on Sunday but we`ve won our last two games so we`re full of confidence and we`ll do everything we can to get another good result. It`s a London derby and we`ll be up for it."

Liam Rosenior:

"The Manchester United result was a difficult start to the campaign but you can`t base a season on one result. Taking three points in our second away game, in front of more than 50,000 people is the best response we could have hoped for.LiamNewcastle

"I think it was a good away performance. I thought we defended well as a team and looked solid, apart from when they scored, and that`s what you`ve got to do when you go to a place like Newcastle.

"The goal changed everything and it was a great piece of play from Wayne, doing what he`s good at, getting past a defender and putting his crosses in - and fortunately Brian got on the end of it. After the goal went in our heads lifted and we managed to get a second.

"I`ve played with Wayne (Routledge) two or three times for the U21`s and we`ve got a really good understanding. I`m lucky to be surrounded by players like Browny and Wayne.

"It was the first time I`ve played at St. James' Park and it`s a great stadium with a good atmosphere and it`s even better when you win there! It`s a long way to go so hopefully we can now pick up some points closer to home at Tottenham.

"It`s a long season and we`re aiming for a top ten position and pushing for Europe."

Collins John:

'Everyone was happy with the three points on Saturday but obviously Jimmy got injured. We had to keep our focus on the game and it was a good result.CJohn

'It`s early in the season and hopefully more away wins will follow, we just need to keep focused and do our best. Obviously it`s nice to win the fourth game of the season away from home but we have to keep working hard because it's very early in the season.

'The form of our players has been outstanding this season. Obviously Jimmy has been excellent and scored two great goals. I think in the last three games Bouba has been unbelievable and he did such a good job against Newcastle. Browny`s been working so hard and obviously Boa is an excellent captain. Antti`s been great in all four games and Pearcy`s form has been fantastic.

He added...

'I`ve known Wayne (Routledge) for a long time and I think he`ll be a sensation this year with his pace and trickery. He was involved in both goals on Saturday and I think the Manager did a good job bringing him to Fulham and I`m very happy he`s here.'

Luis Boa Morte says that we did not particularly play well at the weekend, so that makes the win all the more special, when you play not at your best and still win.

Rouledge will be awesome this season.

It'll be interesting to see how you'll cope without Bullard.
