Applause for a Great Start

Applause for a Great Start

If anyone, in the aftermath of the sales of Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele and coupled with the summer losses of Andy Johnson, Dickson Etuhu and Danny Murphy, had suggested that we`d have gotten off to such a great start, I`d have offered a wry smile.

But all credit to Martin Jol, the Dutchman has bought wisely and the start we`ve made has given us 16 points, the same as our opponents on Saturday, Arsenal.

Now all we need to do is maintain this form, possibly kick-on and then we can really upset the apple-cart.

Speaking about our fine start, one of the unlikely heroes of the season, so far, Chris Baird, has commented,

"It could have been the best start ever. To have 16 points alongside Arsenal is great. We knew we could come here and get a result. We are under no illusions that we are a good team with great players."

"To be on 16 points with these is a great start."

Onwards and upwards as they say!
