'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Spring Chicken at 40!

Like fine wine, it looks as if Mark Schwarzer is improving with age.

Our Australian international, facing that last-ditch spot-kick from Mikel Arteta, had us all bouncing with joy when he pulled of that spectacular save to give us a share of the spoils at the Emirates Stadium,

Watching from the edge of the area was another player who has seen his career revitalized this season, Chris Baird and the Irish international was full of admiration for Schwarzer, remarking to the media afterwards,

"I would love to be able to jump like that when I`m 40 - I am struggling now! All credit to him."

"He looks after himself so well and it shows from his performances every week. He has been fantastic for the club and hopefully he can keep that form going."

"Everyone expected it to be 4-3. It was an unbelievable save from Schwarzy."

"We stuck in there even though we made it quite hard for ourselves in the second half. We will take 3-3 against Arsenal at the Emirates any day of the week."

We certainly will and it just goes to show how far we`ve come under the stewardship of Martin Jol and in very difficult circumstances.
