Dembele Departure Looms

And so it looks as if our fears are about to be realized!

Indeed, by the time you read this I`d say there is every chance that Moussa Dembele will no longer be a Fulham player.

With Tottenham Hotspur having cash to burn following the sale of Luka Modric, there are very strong mutterings, in the red-top press, that Spurs and Fulham are very close to agreeing a deal whereby Moussa will leave Craven Cottage for White Hart Lane.

The red-tops are in unison that the buy-out clause has been met and that £15 million will be making its way to the Craven Cottage bank account. However, with the transfer window about to slam shut this Friday it doesn`t leave Martin Jol much time to wrap up a deal for a replacement.

What a sad day. After the first two league games I thought we were in for a great season and now the heart has been ripped out of the team. That and losing to the Owls.

Unless you have a billionaire owner, we're all 'selling clubs.' This is just part of life. I'm not crazy about a move at this late juncture, but at £15m for what he's ACTUALLY produced during his time at Fulham, I think I would've made the same deal. From the beginning, Dembele has looked very impressive on the ball, but the final product has always been lacking. Now, I have a feeling that he might 'come into his own' this season, which I'm sure is what Spurs are counting on, but there's no guarantee and I can't blame us for taking the money on this occasion. That said, we really do need to get a playmaker in central midfield before the close of the window because final-product or not, Dembele was huge presence in the middle of the pitch.

he is awesome and will be missed but have faith in jol......rate him highly

I just heard that the £15m bid triggered the release clause in his contract, so it appears that Fulham had no choice in the matter... in case that makes anyone feel better.

Oops. Guess that was mentioned in the article. Perhaps I should read more carefully. Apologies.

I have been going on about Dembele for a while now. Very, very happy he is at Spurs. Fulham seem to be a happy club no matter what happens and always find a way to do well in the PL. Under Jol, i don't see any problems.
