Keeper Move In The Pipeline?

The tabloid press are in unison this morning that Martin Jol is in the market for another keeper.

With Mark Schwarzer approaching his 40th birthday this October, the rumours are that Jol is looking to bring the Dutch keeper Maarten Stekelenberg to Craven Cottage.

Stekelenberg, currently keeping goal for AS Roma, is rated in the £8 million bracket and appears to be keen on a move to London with a source at Roma quoted as having remarked,

"Even though Maarten is happy in Italy and is not actively seeking a move, he would relish the chance to wok with Jol again and play in the Premier League."

"He knows how much the Fulham coach admires him."

All we`ll say is that a certain David Stockdale might be more than a little miffed if such a deal goes through!

There is no need for Maarten Stekelenberg, and spending 8 million on a third keeper makes no sense especially when we need a striker and a midfielder and Mark maybe turning 40 but he is still playing like he is a young guy and David Stockdale is waiting to become the next number 1 and I think he has earned his chance to try for number 1 after Mark retires and if we bring in Maarten, David might as well be gone and Mark might lose his spot.
