Bolton 0 Fulham 3
Don`t blink, that was the score.
After only scoring 8 goals away from home all season, in the Premier League, Fulham went on a scoring spree at the Reebok Stadium this afternoon.
With Martin Jol, pre-match, calling for Fulham to become a regular top-ten team, the side, inspired by yet another inspired display from Clint Dempsey, obliged.
Right from the off Fulham bossed matters and the only surprise was that it took thirty minutes for us to score.
The goal came after Fulham had previously had a goal disallowed after a Duff shot had been deflected into the path of Dempsey but his finish was ruined by the offside flag. Dempsey, stood over a free kick struck a perfect shot that left Bogdan clawing at fresh air.
Bolton`s response was to unleash shots from N`Gog and Reo Coker that Schwarzer dealt with comfortably. Just as half time approached; Fulham doubled their lead when Dempsey claimed his twenty-first goal of the season heading home, at the far post, a cross from Duff.
Leading 2-0 at half time Fulham faced a revitalised Bolton side in the second half with Owen Coyle introducing Kevin Davies and Chris Eagles. Davies, as expected, was a threat but Fulham conceded little ground and with Duff having the beating of the Bolton full back every time, always had an outlet.
Bogdan did his best to keep the score respectable saving from Duff and the home support thought N`Gog had earned a penalty but Mike Dean dismissed the appeal.
Ruiz, with nobody around him, went down injured and after a lengthy spell of treatment was carried away on a stretcher to be replaced by Dickson Etuhu .But with eighty minutes played the game was put beyond Bolton when Mohamadou Diarra capitalised on a breakaway involving Riise to slide in from close range.
Now why can`t we do that week in and week out?
