Three more points for Fulham Football Club and a Premier League double over our local rivals Queens Park Rangers, not bad for an afternoons work.
Not too long ago Martin Jol speculated over the importance of the four games Fulham faced, after two of them we`ve taken maximum points, so things are looking up and following the win yesterday, we now find ourselves in a lofty eleventh place.
Following speculation that our recent Russian acquisition may be carrying an injury, it was pleasing to see him in the starting eleven. As for the opposition, I have to admit that it looked strange seeing Bobby Zamora in a far from fetching hoop shirt. As for Mark Hughes, the less said the better as we`re firmly on Mr AL Fayed`s side on this one.
Fulham started the game very well and looked the far more accomplished side, going ahead as early as the 7th minute. The goal coming after a superb through ball from Moussa Dembele found Pavel Pogrebnyak and he wasted no time in slotting it past Kenny to claim his second goal in two games.
The warning signs had been there though as early as the 2nd minute when Andy Johnson had a goal disallowed, having finished off a cross from Riise, AJ was adjudged to have been offside.
Dominating play, Fulham supporters expected their side to go on and complete another rout, like the one witnessed at Craven Cottage earlier this season, but it wasn`t to come.
Instead the only moment of intense excitement came when QPR`s debutant, Diakite was shown the red card after a crashing tackle on Bryan Ruiz.
So, with no further goals coming our way it was left to the travelling support, having a fantastic time, to taunt QPR and their manager with a little ditty that went:
"Mark Hughes in the Championship."
Now wouldn`t that be some kind of poetic justice!
