Russian Roulette

So the plan is we loan in somebody in the hope that he succeeds but doesn`t push his price up so that we can`t afford him, whilst also selling our top scorer from previous seasons!

Got it!

Therefore, I have to ask the question following a more than decent display on his debut, as to whether any more displays / goals of that ilk, might push Pavel Pogrebynak out of our price range!

Speaking about his new acquisition post match, Martin Jol had this to say about his signing and also the delay in him making his debut, remarking,

"We knew it might be two weeks before we got him over here and didn`t want to take any risks. We worked him twice a day. We speak in German."

"It was a good idea for him and for us. Normally they want three or four year contracts but he`s sort of in the shop window and can make it more difficult for us."

"What we`ve seen of him so far he looks fit for the Premier League."

I`ll agree with that and let`s hope he can keep the goals flowing!

I can't believe we don’t have an option to buy at an agreed price, that’s how other clubs seem to do it with these sort of loans, if he does well he won’t be coming to us in the summer because we won’t be able to afford him what is going on at the moment we sell one of our top players for a stupid price to get unknown on loan with no option to buy, Jol is turning out club into a laughing stock. :(

well that's a bit of an overreaction i would say... let's hope he plays well enough that we want to resign him, and then see what happens...

If we could afford to spend 10 million quid on Ruiz, whose ability to keep hold of the ball is akin to a three year old child's, then we should be able to keep hold of Pavel (I hope). He looked really good against Stoke and that goal was sweet, even if he did decide to disappear to one of our rivals in the summer at least he would have helped us stay in the Premier League. I would just say Jol's transfer policy is also a bit of a mystery to me!
