Who Will Get The Nod?

Up at the Etihad Stadium, Martin Jol has a big decision to make.

For the last ten games, David Stockdale has proven to be a more than capable replacement for the injured Mark Schwarzer.

On the back of those performances, Stockdale has confirmed his credentials as a possible understudy to Joe Hart for the England keepers` role.

As chance would have it, Hart will be at the opposite end of the pitch today.

But, with Schwarzer now fit, who will Jol choose?

The press pundits are expecting the Aussie to walk straight back into the first team but will he?

Jol has thrown doubt on those expectations by remarking at his press conference before the City game,

"I think Mark is 100 per cent now, but I never said he would automatically come back and we have a big decision to make."

I guess we`ll only get the truthful answer at around 17:00 hours tonight when the team is announced ahead of the City fixture.

Schwarzer commands his area and the defenders much better than Stockdale, both are good shot stoppers. But what worries me is, just like Smalling, a young decent English player moves on because he is not getting his chance at Fulham. Imagine a Hangerland-Smalling centre half pairing instead of the plodding Senderos

i'd be much happier with it... we need to hold onto stockdale... he can improve... schwarzer may be better now, but stockdale can be an adequate replacement...
