'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Johnson Contract Latest!

If I was a betting man, but I`m not; as the transfer window was preparing to open I`d have wagered that Andrew Johnson would have been the one leaving Craven Cottage and not Bobby Zamora.

My theory being that with AJ`s ongoing contract wrangle not having been sorted the club would have wanted some sort of cash return for the striker before the contract expired.

So it just goes to show what I know about football or perhaps just how secretive some clubs can be, because, this morning, it is now being reported that far from being moved on, AJ is to get the length of contract he originally craved and what caused all sorts of apparent problems.

Speaking about the ongoing situation, Martin Jol confirmed to the media,

"Andy is a bit insecure about his future but I think we will find a solution. I think he wants to stay as well."

"We have made him a couple of offers and, in the latest stage, even offered him what he wanted - two and a half years - so we are close."

Well at least we`ve had ne bit of good news this week!

Did you not pick up that, had he agreed to move up north, AJ would now be a Wigan player and we would have got Hugo Rodallega in exchange?

What the hell do we need all these strikers for, if there's nobody who can deliver a ball to them properly?!
