Fulham 1 West Brom 1
A late equaliser from West Bromwich Albion deprived Fulham of all three points last night.
In a game that heralded the return of Roy Hodgson to Craven Cottage, it was pleasing to see a banner unfurled reading Welcome Back Woy, I`m sure it brought a smile to Roy`s face.
But, on a night where the temperatures really plummeted, there was very little to warm the punters up in the way of action on the pitch.
With Bobby Zamora now history, Martin Jol was forced into one change bringing in Simon Davies for the departed striker.
In a poor first half it took Fulham until the 44th minute to test Ben Foster, in the West Brom goal whilst the sum total of West Brom`s efforts on goal was a save made, by Stockdale, form Fortune.
Thankfully the second half was a little better, although not much.
Fulham took the lead in the sixty-ninth minute when a move involving Steve Sidwell and Bryan Ruiz provided Clint Dempsey with the opportunity to beat Ben Foster, to score his sixteenth goal of what is turning out to be a long season.
The goal should have been enough to earn Fulham all three points but with eight minutes of normal time left our defence was undone.
Hodgson had brought on Tchoyi and four minutes after his introduction he fired home, past Stockdale, after a flick from James Morrison. Could Stockdale have done better? I`ll leave you to decide.
So, the honours were shared and Fulham were deprived of a fourth consecutive home win. Next up for the Cottagers is a tasty looking trip to take on title contenders Manchester City!
