Striker-In Talk?

This morning I awoke to the speculation that a new striker would be arriving at Craven Cottage.

Two names were featuring prominently.

The first being Pavel Pogrebnyak a 28 year old Russian who plays for Stuttgart and the second being that of the Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios The latter is a year younger than the former, at 27, and scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga last season.

However, since then there has been nothing in the transfer day breaking news to substantiate the possibility that one, or both, are imminent signings. But with here being a few hours to go yet, matters may change.

hopefully we won't need a new striker with bobby staying... good grief...

Barrios would be a tremendous signing. In fact, I can't believe he'd be interested in us to be honest. Pogrebnyak... I'd take a pass. He's OK, but hardly prolific in the Bundesliga. No reason to think he'd be any better in England.

Well, as also a Zenit supporter, I gotta say I know Pogreb well and he's a good striker! Not as sharp as Zamora or Pav maybe but is definitely more willing and physical, so as a targetman he's a direct replacement if not a better one! If choosing, i'd prefer him to Barrios for whom it may take another half-a-year to adapt I bet, I mean look at Ruiz.. Bad news there's no any rumours about younger playmakers in, so good ol' (and it's big OL') Murphy's still our only option for another half-a-year...
