Everton v Fulham Preview

Friday night, what`s that all about?

I can only surmise that the fact that both Liverpool and Everton were drawn at home in the FA Cup 4th round doomed us to a long trek to the north-west, on a Friday evening, to continue our FA Cup campaign.

Although I could scream - what about a Sunday kick-off?

But it`s all immaterial, a long trek north tomorrow (Friday) it is and to hell with the consequences!

The draw certainly did us no favours when we were pulled out of that contraption at Wembley. After seeing off Charlton Athletic, in the 3rd round, I was hoping for a home tie, if not a home tie than an away tie against relatively comfortable opposition.

But the fates conspired to draw us to play Everton and many a hack, looking at our away record, will be opting for a home win.

So let`s dumfound them shall we!

The FA Cup is a wonderful competition and we`re realistic enough to accept it is our last chance of a trophy this season. In the bread-and-butter of our game, the Premier League, we`ve accepted that our ambition is to finish in the top half, but the FA Cup is winnable.

Everton may be a tough proposition but they`re not unbeatable. Whilst we admire the splendid work David Moyes has done with the Goodson Park outfit, it`s fair to say they`re not the Everton of old; they`re beatable on their own patch.

And, throwing a bit of magic dust into the most magical of competitions, would it be fantastic if Andrew Johnson could score the winner against his old club, or even if Simon Davies could come off the bench and do something similar.

Or, if you`re looking for wondrous feats, how about Clint Dempsey scoring a third hat-trick already this year; and January isn`t even over!

That`s the effect this marvelous competition has on you, it draws you in and craves your attention, its like nothing else, so come on Fulham - do us proud and see us in round five!
