Did That Clinch it for Stockdale?
The unfortunate, and unexpected, injury suffered by Mark Schwarzer, has opened the door for David Stockdale.
Recalled from his loan spell at Portman Road, Stockdale gave the sort of performance at Stamford Bridge yesterday that suggests that he could well have cemented his place in the England squad for the Euro 2012 Finals next summer.
Knowing the way that Fabio Capello operates, we`ve no doubt that there was somebody at Stamford Bridge reporting back to the Italian.
Our only fear now being that of Stockdale being displaced when Schwarzer recovers from his spinal problem, it might be a case of 'out of sight, out of mind`.
We hope not!
Perhaps another loan spell to keep him sharp!
