Odense BK 0 Fulham 2

Two goals from Andrew Johnson, one in each half, were enough to give Fulham their first win in nine games.

Martin Jol made six changes from the side that he selected at the weekend,

Odense got the action underway and had a chance in the first minute when Kadrii skewed a shot wide. Fulham responded with a Dempsey shot that went wide when he probably had time available to take the ball on a little further.

Pushing forward, Johnson cut a ball back but Kasami could only hit the legs of the keeper, Wessels. Kelly, delivering a cross, saw a Dempsey volley saved before a shot from the one-time Manchester united player, Djemba-Djemba slid just wide.

Fall, showing some initiative forced Schwarzer into a good low save before the same player saw an acrobatic volley from the same player fly inches wide of the post.

Fall, proving to be a handful, then curled a free-kick in that Schwarzer claimed before the action switched to the other end where Dempsey fired a pull back over the bar.

Dempsey, getting involved in the action, saw Djemba-Djemba clear his header off the line from a corner. With thirty-six minutes gone Fulham took the lead when Dempsey rode two challenges and slipped the ball to Johnson.

There seemed very little on but Johnson cut into the box and his low shot ended up in the net with the Odense keeper not doing as good as he perhaps should have.

Odense 0 Fulham 1 (Johnson-36 minutes)

As the half approached its completion Andreasen broke through the offside trap, played the ball to Fall, but he striker skied his effort over the bar.

Half Time - Odense 0 Fulham 1

Neither side made any changes at half time but it was noticeable that the temp o of the game had dropped for that frantic first half. Djemba-Djemba saw a volley go wide after a weakfish clearing header from Etuhu.

Kasami, as Fulham pushed forward, saw a shot fly across the face of the goal. Schwarzer was then forced into action to push away a shot from Kadrii as Odense pushed forward searching for an equaliser.

Duff beautifully rode two challenges before seeing his shot saved and then Briggs was the victim of a terrible two footed tackle form Traore that the referee only saw fit to show a yellow card for.

Jol shuffled his pack bringing on Sa and Sidwell and as Odense pushed forward forcing Schwarzer to save from Utaka, a quick counter-attack saw a long ball find Johnson and his control was immaculate as he cut inside the defender before curling a great shot past Wessels.

Odense 0 Fulham 2 (Johnson-88 minutes)

What is it they say - Fulham never lose when AJ scores!

Solid result, Andy Johnson has had a good start to the season, perhaps I should consider taking back the harsh words I've had for Johnson over the last few seasons! He seems to have got that pace and positional sense back he is looking lively every time he plays. Good stuff now lets get three points on Sunday!
