Post Match Reaction

Our unbeaten run came crashing to a halt yesterday when Wolves scored twice, in four minutes, just before half time.

In the obligatory post-match interviews, Mick McCarthy, being a gentleman, seemed to believe that our Europa League exertions had taken something out of our game yesterday and left those in attendance in no doubt as to what he would do if Wolves were close to Europa League qualification, commenting,

"If we ever get anywhere near the Europa League, I`ll be horrified."

"If it`s through fair play, I`ll even go out and kick a few opponents to make sure we don`t qualify!"

"I`ve no doubt that Fulham paid some penalty for being involved in a Europa League fixture only last Thursday."

Wolves in Europe? Heaven forbid!

But Martin Jol had a different viewpoint on the subject and offered the following response,

"I understand what Mick thinks. But fatigue in August? That shouldn`t be the case."

As for me, I reckon it was just a typical away performance, a trait we`ve been suffering from, in the Premier League, for a couple of seasons now!

i think it was a bit of poor away performance, and poor team selection... martin's is (hopefully) still feeling out the squad and seeing whom he prefers... i hope he returns to hughes and hangeland in the middle...

Yep I want to see H&H back in the middle of defence, it's worked for the last 3 seasons and we've had one of the meanest defences outside top 4, please Martin stop trying to fix something that wasn't broken

Totally agree. Senderos is a back up CB, not a starter. I'm hoping this is just a 'lets see if this works' rather than a 'I prefer this' formation. I'm also going to take a punt in saying that I think Etuhu wasn't quite sure what he was supposed do be doing when we were attacking.

The squad was lost with no idea how to move the ball forward. We just kept pinging the ball back and forth between backline and back-running midfielders until we lost possession. And long-balls to Andy Johnson... is there anything more pointless than that?
