Wolves 2 Fulham 0

Our eight game unbeaten start to the season, albeit via the Europa League mostly, came to a halt at Wolves this afternoon when Mick McCarthy`s side beat us 2-0.

Martin Jol, shuffling his pack, made four changes to the side that beat Dnipro in midweek with Andrew Johnson, Dickson Etuhu, John Arne Riise and Philippe Senderos all returning. One notable absentee from the squad though was Bobby Zamora. Making his Premeir League debut was one of our young summer signings, Pajtim Kasami.

The game started brightly with both sides creating half chances. Wolves saw a shot from Henry blocked by Senderos whilst Johnson couldn`t quite get anything on a dangerous looking ball into the Wolves area.

Duff had a chance to open the scoring but meeting a pull-back from Johnson, the Irishman would have been disappointed to see his shot go straight at Hennessey in the Wolves goal.

The highly rated Matt Jarvis was troubling Fulham with his powerful running on the flank, a sign of things to come perhaps. Kasami was the victim of a poor challenge from Berra and required treatment although Mike Dean didn`t even award Fulham a foul.

The home side were starting to get on top and Schwarzer had to push away a shot form Jamie O`Hara from some way out. Just as it looked as if Fulham would make it to half time, the roof fell in.

First, a lack in concentration saw us fall for the short corner trick and when Jarvis slid the ball to Kevin Doyle his shot left Schwarzer with no chance. Four minutes later, Wolves doubled their lead. Schwarzer couldn`t get to a cross from Stephen Hunt and Jarvis was on hand to score.

2-0 down at half time and up against it!

Martin Jol made two changes at half time, bringing on Moussa Dembele and Steve Sidwell with Etuhu and Kasami making way.

Wolves continue dot push Fulham back though and both Jarvis and Hunt tried to increase the home sides lead. Had our midweek exertions left us slightly drained?

Clint Dempsey tried to get Fulham back into the match but his long range shot was well wide but forays forward were becoming rarer and Schwarzer had to be alert to push a shot from Hunt around the post.

Fulham almost snatched a consolation goal towards the end when Hennessey parried Johnson`s shot and Dempsey thought he was going to tap the rebound home only to be deprived by a great tackle from Ward.

Another defeat on the road in the Premier League, let`s hope it`s not the start of a familiar tale shall we!

we were well beaten... i think we lost the battles in all areas of the pitch. jol got some of his selections wrong today, compared to thursday. well done wolves, but i really hope we do better next time.

Really poor performance from Fulham today. Using the European hangover excuse is poor form. It wasn't that at all. We just had fight and spirit. I remember you being one of the best teams to visit Molineux last season - was a bit of a shock today especially as we play very similar football. Both teams like to pass it around nicely. I think you can only improve after today's poor show but in a few weeks time no doubt, you'l be above us! Good luck for the rest of the campaign guys.

Questionable squad decisions. Still don't agree with Etuhu over Sidwell. Sidwell should start. Senderos at CB with Hughes at RB still confuses me. Why break up one of the best centre back pairings in the league for the past two seasons? And why is Baird now seen as surplus to requirements? Hughes is a good defender but Baird was a tried and tested RB last season. Dembele should have started up front with AJ today with Kasami on the bench. Kasami needs to see more action of prem games off the bench before he starts.

Wolves played with purpose and intensity... we didn't - SIMPLE! I won't put too much on this one. It was a bad day at the office. Still, there are a few of things worth mentioning. 1) Hughes cannot play RB. Get it sorted Martin! 2) Murphy and Etuhu have been awful. Nothing but long balls the first two matches because our central mids can only pass backwards. 3) Bobby Zamora makes all the difference in the world. He has to start!.

there was no one holding up play up front... murphy and etuhu have not looked good... kasami looked too fancy for the match... he was trying flair, but the passes wouldn't go... hughes and hangeland at CB, please... get in a RB, or baird in the meantime... riise barely made it forward... we lost nearly every ball in the air, which meant we were chasing shadows the entire game... unluck duffer didn't put his chances in, but we didn't deserve a point...

That was such a bad performance I couldn't even bring myself to get up off the sofa and scream. Center mids - awful. Forwards - awful. Possession - awful. Dempsey in particular looked terrible. Time to get the ship righted.
