Hammer Linked to Cottage!

Hammer Linked to Cottage!

Now we`re not sure where this one has come from but it might provoke some debate on the site.

With Martin Jol having announced he wants to bring another striker to Craven Cottage, to supplement Dembele, Johnson and Zamora, the tabloid press have provided the name of Carlton Cole as a possible solution to Jol`s request.

Cole, who scored his first goal of the season at Vicarage Road, on Tuesday night, for West Ham, will be allowed to leave Upton Park if the price is right.

The problem though is how much should Fulham be considering paying for the player if the rumour has an element of truth about it?

Cole, a former member of the England squad, struggled to find the net last season as West Ham plunged through the relegation trap door. No doubt David Gold and David Sullivan would point to the fact that he has international status to bolster the price and it`s hard to see our counter claim, about his low scoring last season, cutting much ice with the steely-eyed business duo.

There`s no doubting Cole could do a job for West Ham but I`d be inclined to put a £3.5 million ceiling on any potential transfer!

i think a 3.5 mil cap is a good idea... he would be a luxury... we need another striker, but cole might be too good... i don't know how he would deal with coming off the bench...

I'd rather take Jerome as Zamora's double - for the same price I guess, but he's 3 years younger so he's a better prospect. And of corse his ego would not get hurt with this role as much as Cole's would.

Not sure about this one, but we don't have much time left to sort this out.
