You`ll either love this or hate it!
Although it has been suggested that Martin Jol is looking to lower the age of the squad, a policy that he seems to be adhering too with his recent signings, is there a possibility that the availability of a top-notch midfielder, albeit a wayward soul, might see a relaxation of that policy?
The question has been posed because I believe that the announcement that Joey Barton has been released by Newcastle and is available on a free transfer could be too good an opportunity to miss.
Here we have a player that although wayward, has the belief that his talents put him up there with the best English midfielders of his generation, a player that is proven at top flight level but, unfortunately, a player that comes with a reputation for being wayward and disruptive.
But, we should also point out that Barton has, in recent years toned down his misdemeanours and working alongside Martin Jol you have to ask whether he could become a valuable asset to the squad
Your thoughts would be most welcome please!
