'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Who to Support?

With one game yet to play for Fulham Football Club, their final position in the table can vary from the highest position of 7th, to a tumble down the table to 11th.

Fulham's final position in the table will undoubtedly depend on other clubs around them in the league. As is the custom, the final match week of the Premier League will lend itself to a lot of scoreboard watching.

The question arises though, whom shall the Fulham army support, other than the obvious answer?

Tuesday's match between Manchester City and Stoke City will bring a bit more clarity to the situation. Stoke City sit at 46 points, but with a game in hand.

Fulham faithful should clearly be rooted for Manchester City, but if that idea cannot be stomached, then a draw is the only other option.

Sunday is a bit more complicated, as there are 4 matches that will effect Fulham's final position in the table:

In Bolton v. Manchester City, once again Fulham fans should get behind Manchester City. With a win coupled by a Fulham loss, Bolton could rise above Fulham in the table. Once again a draw is an adequate option if Manchester City cannot be supported.

Everton v. Chelsea presents a very unique situation, where rooting for Chelsea is deemed 'tolerable'. Although they appeared to have packed up for the season already, Chelsea could do us a large favour in denying any points to Everton, who sit 3 points above us, with a smaller goal differential.

A Fulham win and an Everton loss could mean Seventh Heaven once again, even if it would not guarantee a European qualification.

Newcastle v. West Bromwich Albion pits two teams against each other that are within striking distance to Fulham in the table, provided Fulham lose. This results in the most boring of suggestions, in rooting for a draw. As a neutral, a draw is never the desired outcome, but then Fulham fans are not neutrals in this situation.

Stoke City v. Wigan once again requires rooting against Stoke City. As a Fulham supporter, one can only hope that Wigan provide a commanding performance in their quest to avoid the drop. A draw might be adequate here, depending on Tuesday night's result and the final goal differentials.

There you have it. There are quite a few fixtures to keep tabs on during the final day of the season. If Sunday seems too far away, there is the match on Tuesday to bridge the gap, and it is a match of interest to the Fulham faithful.

Above all, Fulham must peg back the visiting Gunners, who should be trying to qualify directly for the Champion League. It is time to make Craven Cottage a fortress once more.
