'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Confused From Putney!

Yesterday, tuned into Sky Sports, I believe I was fed some incorrect information relating to the Europa League qualification via the 'Fair Play` League.

The inference being that Spurs were topping the league and that if they`d already qualified the place would be given to the team below them in the Premier League table.

Apparently, that`s not true.

Apparently, we are still in pole position for that extra place and that we`re ahead of Blackpool by the skin of our teeth courtesy of Mark Hughes coaching methods being adjudged to be better than Ian Holloway`s.

A fact that has made me more confused than ever, unless of course someone cares to explain in simple terms to this struggling poor soul.

The Fair Play spot can only be given based on the Fair Play standings and is not related to the Premiere League standings in anyway, we are currently 3rd, man u are 4th but have a CL place, Blackpool are 5th, if Tottenham finish 5th in the EPL we will get the extra Europa League spot, if they finish 6th in the EPL they will get the extra place, Blackpool can only get it if we implode against Arsenal and pick up lot's of yellows or a Red, now normally I would say that that is not likely but after the last 2 games I'm not so sure. I think the June 30th kick off is putting people off the idea, Hughes (Mark), Brede, ‘Arry (spuds) have all commented on how long it makes a season and the likely hood of burn out later in the season, if we were to repeat our amazing feat of reaching the final again we would have played an extra 28 games on top of normal league and domestic cups games, so somewhere around 70-75 games maybe even as many as 80 if we have a good domestic cup run, now you can see why they could see this as a bit of a problem, you also have to think that next summer is the European Championships, so not much of a summer break for those involved in that either. Looking at it like this it could be seen as a bit of a poisoned chalice.

i certainly don't know, but i respect that fact that positive play goes towards that final europa league spot... let's hope for a good discipline records and win against arsenal!

INDEED IF WE HAVE A GOOD ENOUGH SQUAD WE CAN ROTATE AND PUT SOME YOUNGER FRINGE PLAYERS IN THE EARLY GAMES LIKE WE DID LAST TIME THE FIRST TEAM WOULD NOT BE PLAYING 70 GAME S THAT WHY YOU HAVE A SQUAD ROTATION AS FOR WHO GETS WHAT A LOT IS PAPER TALK BELEVE IT ONLY WHEN IT HAPPENS

Oldwolf - I believe this is supposed to read as follows: "if Tottenham finish 5th in the EPL we will get the extra Europa League spot, if they finish 6th in the EPL THEY WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR THE EUROPA LEAGUE THROUGH THERE LEAGUE POSITION AND WILL ONLY get the extra place IF THEY FINISH ABOVE US IN THE FAIR PLAY TABLE (WHICH WILL ONLY HAPPEN IF WE HAVE A NIGHTMARE AGAINST ARSENAL).
Mr. Ploppy
Mr. Ploppy, don't think so as I believe that are now above us due to the yellow's we picked up in the last 2 games but it's very tight.
Oldwolf
Oh really? I thought we were still above them! Cr@p!
Mr. Ploppy
WE ARE AS LONG AS WE DONT PICK UP ANY REDS ME THINKS

We won't really know until the end of the season as apparently they only calculate it once a month and the table only goes up to the 30th April at the moment.
